Kindness Matters Inc - Achieve Music Group

A group of engaged and invested musicians and caring volunteers in the Greater Boston community are raising money through their music, art work and kind acts to support the Achieve Program. The Achieve Program is a tuition-free academic enrichment program to empower motivated students from underserved Boston communities to succeed in school and life. Achieve is hosted by Noble and Greenough School (http://www.nobles.edu) in Dedham, MA, a partnership which grants underserved public school students access to many independent school resources. The school’s commitment to Achieve is based on its shared mission of inspiring leadership for the public good.

Dr. Sandra Hebert

Pianist Sandra Hebert has performed throughout the U.S. as well as in Asia and Europe as soloist, concerto soloist, and collaborative pianist. She appears regularly with the Kalliope Trio, and with her piano-duo partner, Elaine Kwon. A committed proponent of new music, her numerous premiers include the international award-winning Flood Gate by Robert Rowe, and the U.S. premiere of Erland von Koch’s Piano Concerto #3. She has recorded for Le Chant du Monde, CRI, ICMC, Juxtab and Arcadian Winds, and has performed frequently on radio and television, including WGBH and WBUR in Boston. Winner of numerous prizes and awards for both performance and academics, Dr. Hebert holds a D.M.A. in Piano Performance from Boston University.

Richard

Richard Shaughnessy

Richard Shaughnessy performs on both modern and period clarinets. He has played with the Handel & Haydn Society, Emmanuel Music, the Arcadia Players, and the Worcester Orchestra and Boston Baroque. In Europe he has performed at the Edinburgh Festival, and has played concerts in Paris and Frankfurt. He has appeared as concerto soloist with the Nashua (NH) Symphony as principal clarinet. He can be heard on several recordings, including the first recording of Siegfried Karg-Elert’s Jugend (Youth), Ralf Yusuf Gawlick's Kinderkreuzzug, and a newly released recording of Haydn's The Creation with Boston Baroque.

Noah Umberto Kelly

Noah Umberto Kelly started his classical violin studies at the age of 6 through Project STEP. Noah currently attends Walnut Hill School for the Arts and studies violin with Peter Zazofsky. Last year, Noah represented Project STEP at the National Art and Humanities Youth Programs Awards’ reception hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House. Noah is a member of several chamber groups as well as the NEC Preparatory School’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed with the Boston POPS String Chamber Orchestra, The Civic Symphony and The Landmarks Orchestra. He was recently chosen to perform at the Cape Symphony’s 2016 Opening Night concert with Grammy-award-winning violinist Mark O’Connor. He has received numerous awards for his commitment to community service.

Victor

Victor Li

Victor Li, a senior at Noble and Greenough School, has been a top prize winner for all kind of competitions and has had a large amount of public performances in the Boston. His recording of Liszt’s Rigoletto Paraphrase at WGBH was played on WCRB-FM99.5. He also played in Carnegie Hall in New York as a golden winner of American Fine Arts Festival. Victor held his 1st and 2nd Autism Benefit Concerts in May 2015 and 2016 to support autism children. Victor has been playing piano for 13 years and currently is studying with Mr. A. Ramón Rivera at the NEC.

AnnikaHarrington

Annika Harrington

Annika Harrington is a junior at Nobles, has been playing flute since the first grade. She has been studying with Judy Grant for three years. She participates in Ms. Grant's Boston Flute Academy and is a member of the Conservatory Ensemble there. She has played in both the Rivers Wind Ensemble and the Rivers Youth Symphony Orchestra for two years and have also participated in the Sr. Districts Festival. For the past five summers, she has attended the Kinhaven School of Music in Weston, VT, and is looking forward to her sixth summer there. At Nobles, she is the president of the chamber music club and has been one of the co concertmasters of the wind ensemble for the past two years. Outside of music she plays soccer on the Nobles Varsity team and loves spending time with friends and family.

Shawn Wu

Shawn Wu

Shawn Wu is a freshman at Noble and Greenough School and currently studies piano with Dr. Sandra Hebert. He won National Honor Roll Award for outstanding performance in five consecutive years in the Guild National Program. Shawn is a member in the Nobles Chamber Music Group and principal trombonist in the Nobles Orchestra. For the past two summers, he attended the International Music Academy in Cremona, Italy to play piano solo and chamber music there. At Nobles, he enjoys community services and running cross country. He is also one of the organizers for the Achieve Music Concert.

Julia Herzfelder

Julia Herzfelder is a senior at Nobles. She currently is a part of Chamber Singers and Greensleeves (Nobles' all-female a cappella group), and often performs in all-school assembly. For her senior project, Julia is writing and recording songs. Additionally, Julia has a younger brother also at Nobles, Desmond '19.

Sarah Yoo

Sarah Yoo is a junior at the Noble and Greenough School and currently studies violin with SoYoung Kwon. She has been playing the violin since she was 7 and has been a part of the NEC Prep Orchestras for 8 years. She is a member of the Youth Symphony conducted by Steven Karidoyanes.

Anna Kankkunen

Anna Kankkunen have played violin for 12 years. She is currently studying with Marta Zurad and is a member of the Youth Symphony at the New England Conservatory Prep. School.

NathanielBirne

Nathaniel Birne

Nathaniel Birne is a sophomore at Nobles. He has played cello for eight years as a student of Ron Lowry and has participated in several orchestras at the Rivers School Conservatory and the New England Conservatory. He is currently a member of the Nobles orchestra and is the vice president of Nobles Music Outreach. In his free time, Nathaniel also enjoys cooking and running cross country.

Clair Mao

Claire Mao, a seventh grader at Noble and Greenough School, has been studying and playing piano for 7 years. Her current piano teacher is Mrs. Dorothy Shi.  Claire is an active member in the Jam Band, Wind Ensemble and chorus group at Noble Middle School. She also plays flute in Preparatory Wind Ensemble at Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras.

Charles Wang

Charles Wang is a seventh grader at Fessenden School. Charles currently plays for the Fessenden School Orchestra as well as for Preparatory Winds Ensemble at the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. Charles also enjoys soccer, wrestling and mountain biking.

Daniel Lott

Daniel Lott is Studying Operations Management and Marketing in the Carroll School of Management, with a minor in Music in the School of Arts and Sciences. He is from Norwalk, Connecticut, and has been studying violin for 11 years. On campus, in addition to being a member of the Chamber Music Society, he is a member of Fuego del Corazon, and works for the Robsham Theater.

Chris Fahey is a freshman at Boston College. He is from Scituate, Massachusetts and has been studying piano for the past ten years. He hopes to double major in Philosophy and Music.
